1965 C200 Touring 90

My introduction to the C-200 Touring came about shortly after my father purchased the CT-200 Trail 90. My uncle Tom Logue came to visit us at the farm with his brand new ride.

The Touring 90 was Honda’s solution to a better street ride over the Trail 90. My uncle Tom lived in town, hence his decision to buy something more street oriented, and that would be reliable to transport him from his home to his cabin.

At the same time that uncle Tom purchased the Touring 90, his three boys were still quite young. Even though today I don’t think of the Touring 90 as a big bike, it was big enough to haul uncle Tom and his three sons (Click here to see uncle Tom and his three kids aboard his Honda) from town to the cabin, a distance of approximatelly 16 miles.

Today there are laws against such irresponsible behavior. The three boys, now adults, still remember the stories and always recollect as it being a great time.

One Sunday afternoon a question arose as to which one was faster, my father’s CT-200 four-speed or uncle Tom’s three-speed C-200 Touring. The only way to settle the dispute was obviously to race them. uncle Tom decided to ride his own, and my cousin Mike took control of my Dad’s CT-200 Trail 90.

They started the race on the furthest corner of the biggest field we have in our farm pointing towards our woodshed. I remember it being a very close race, in fact requiring several heat races.

I think that my Dad’s four-speed CT-200 with cousin Mike at the controls was the eventual winner. My uncle Tom still has his C-200 but he probably remembers the race with a slightly different outcome.
