| | 1962 CA105T Trail 55
The story goes that when American Honda saw that a certain dealer in a very rural area in the Western USA was selling a lot of Honda CUB 50’s, they did not think that the CUB 50 was well suited for a rural setting and became curious.
When Honda investigated the phenomenon they found that this dealer was adapting a larger sprocket on the Cubs and removing the front fenders to make them more off-road worthy.
After seeing this they were inspired to offer a more dirt worthy Honda Cub. The Trail 50 was born. The Trail 50 was built for several years before being replaced by the Trail 90, which did everything better, without a significant cost increase.
We believe that the significance of the Trail 55 is that it is a spin-off of the biggest selling motor vehicle of all time, the Honda Cub 50. The Cub 50 production to date exceeds 50 million units.
